Grandpa still has it!

Imogen can walk on Grandpa's feet just like her mom used to at that age. In fact she is wearing the same dress that her mom wore about 30 years ago. In the next picture she is showing how cute she looks in Grandpa's glasses.

Holidays

The new double-pained window is installed on Dec. 22 and the inside frame is put in place.












Imogen likes to imitate anything that adults do. Here she is helping to clean off her mom's car Dec. 23.









Here John is finishing up the insulation which is R12 doubled. The next step is to put on the 6 mil poly and then plaster board.












We had 13 people at out Christmas turkey dinner and it was great. Samuel, Comfort, and their four girls Dekontee, Maria, Marsayn, JanJay Brewer plus Glory Itaketo and Jenn and John and Imogen Wallace.














We only had 10 at our Sunday dinner as Ohygen Roberts and Stacey and Isabella came over as well as Ruby Marshall and Jenn and John and Imogen. Andrew was not feeling well but at least was able to eat a bit of lunch.

Reno job at Jenn and John's basement

John and I tore out the old wall of 2 X 3 construction with inadequate insulation and a covering of wallboard. We are going to be installing a larger window, 2 X 4 wall with R 24 insulation and 6mil poly. Then we'll put up Gyproc and paint it.
Next we used a masonry blade on a circular saw and cut out the size of opening that we needed for the new window.

Of course we tried to keep the dust contained but as you can see on the couch, we weren't too successful.

We used an impact hammer, a hammer drill, a circular saw with masonry blades and with a diamond blade, and a sledge hammer. What I thought would be a one day job turned into three days.



Finally, I knocked out the last chunk Today about 4:00 pm. The hardest part is done!

Imogen's first sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's

Imogen came over Saturday about 5:00 pm and stayed overnight. She went back to her mom partway through Sunday morning worship service. She finally thought her mom had suffered enough and held out her arms to her to take her back after about the third song! After service we had lunch together at Bonanza Restaurant.

Hunting Trip November 2009

Archie, Peter, Everett, Andrew, and Ian MacLeod just before going out hunting on Friday Morning. Archie and Peter are retired. Everett, Andrew and Ian took time off from work to go hunting. A red fox keeps showing up at Archie's cabin at Turtle Lake and it likes to play with the cats that also hang around the place.

International Pot Luck on Sunday

We had an international pot luck dinner after our our mission emphasis Sunday and a few people dressed for the occasion.

November events

Whitney Mather with her mom and dad: Whitney performed at the Quance Theatre in the Ed. College building. Jenghe Wang convocated with a masters degree in Agriculture at TCU Place. And the last picture is a sunset from our front balcony.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of the year to be thankful for the great way that God blesses us. We had one of the best gardens ever in spite of not being home for most of the summer to look after it. I am so thankful for winter soon to be here (we already have had a taste as the picture above shows) because the cold weather will help keep devastating insects at bay. I am thankful for the change of seasons. We have a hibiscus plant that flowers all year long indoors. And on Thanksgiving Day we had eleven people to share a turkey dinner. We have surely been blessed.

I don't like Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day only occurs once a year and usually the flowers are overpriced just for that day. I prefer to buy Ruth flowers anytime of the year (except Valentine's Day) and I can get flowers more often and for a better price. This dozen long-stemmed roses were only about 15 dollars. So I may not be very romantic on Valentine's Day, but on any of the rest of the days of the year, just for the fun of it, I may buy flowers.

The next day

On Sunday Joy and Andy Sowah came to worship service and Joy is holding part of her wedding cake from the day before. We will miss Joy for at least a year since they are planning to live in Ottawa. We hope that a move back to Saskatoon will be in their near future! (That means a year or two.)

Joy Guidinger and Andreas Sowah were wedded on Saturday. Joy's two sisters Leah and Dawn were part of the wedding party. Her brother Craig was the usher and Jim is in the wedding party.
