Climbing the wall

The last day of work before summer holidays and I am climbing the walls! The new grade twelve coordinator had a wind up party at her house and her husband (also a teacher who teaches at Evan Hardy, had installed a climbing wall. So I just had to try it. Friday I'll be up north to check out whether there are any fish left in the lakes up there.

On Gold(fish)en Pond

These pictures are for Amber all because I said that our goldfish are bigger than her goldfish and she said that she wanted to see the picture of them.

At The Barn Playhouse

Ruth and I picked up Jennifer and John Wallace and we all went to see Andrew in the play version of Huckleberry Finn. Andrew played the part of Jim and had the only singing role. Of course he did a good job.

June is soon over

This is from a poster advertising a play called Huckleberry Finn where Andrew plays the part of Jim. He has not been home much because of play practice almost every evening. I have only four teaching days left and a couple of administration days to get my marks in and do paperwork. Then I'll be on a lake up north in a canoe and not on a raft on just a mere river like the Mississippi.
BTW wasn't it great that the canoe made it on to the 7 greatest Canadian wonders?

Igloo collapse

I found out that an igloo is a temporary structure in that it did not last very long. Just a few days after completing, I noticed it to start its shift changing. It was much warming inside than outside so it melted from the inside out. It was nice to see that the igloo made it to the top 7 wonders of Canada. Maybe it is a symbol too of how temporary this life is.

Spring is almost here

After the big blizzard that we had the entrance to the Quinzy had blown in. It finally melted enough to expose the cave that Ivan, Brian, Angela and I had made last December.

Trip to Weyburn, Midale, Muirhead farm and Ft. Q'

Ruth and I had a wonderful trip last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We first past this quaint town called Dog River. I was never there before (Oh, and I still haven't been there!) We stayed at Bill and Vi Bell's place in Weyburn for both Friday night and Saturday night. They are awesome Rook players. Vi was in good spirits but is a bit frustrated that she cannot do all that she would like to. On Saturday we visited Uncle Cecil Bailey in the Midale Manor and Bill Muirhead fed us a feast at lunch time. Then we made arrangements to go to Ian and Janet's place in Fort Qu'Appelle for Kellen's first birthday. On Sunday Scott Wade had a great sermon on suffering. We visited with Florence Gates and Helen Parker at the nursing home before heading out to Fort Qu'Appelle.
There we had another feast with 23 other people. We made it home about 11 oclock Sunday evening.

First Effort at making an Igloo!

I suspect that this is a bit bigger than the authentic igloos which the Inuit built. However, it is the first chance that I have had at making one because one needs the hard packed snow that results from a blizzard (like we got a few weeks ago). I have yet to finish the dome and it is over eight feet high already. Maybe it will be finished tomorrow. The temperature when I got up this morning -32 C. (For comparison - 4o F is equal to -40 C.) Check out the frozen mustache and beard.

Snow on bench

Ruth was sweaping the snow off the balcony when she noticed the bench with its intricate design of snow from the recent blizzard. She took my camera a shot this picture of the bench. It is amazing the designs and creations that were made from driving snow being plastered over everything by 50 mph winds.
